Circle Murrini Glass Pendant | Silver Plated Chain
This glass pendant necklace is a beautiful shade of watery aqua blue with a polished finish. Handmade using the murrine rollup technique, the glass pendant is not only striking, but would make a wonderful addition to any glass jewelry collection. The antique silver-plated brass snake chain is 2.6mm thick with a lobster claw clasp and removable ball end. Simply twist off the threaded ball end and slide on beads for elegant, interchangeable jewelry designs.
Crafted over multiple firings, this piece starts as alternating strips of colored sheet glass fused into a panel. The panel is reheated and melted together in a glass blowing studio called a “hot shop” and rolled onto a blow pipe. The molten hot glass is stretched and pulled into a rod called "cane", using a classic murrini technique.
This cane is cut into small pieces of varying thicknesses, revealing the pattern in cross-section. These pieces, called murrini, are placed in a mold, melted in a kiln, and are fused into a solid shape. Finally this piece is carved and polished by hand and paired with the perfect bail and chain to highlight the beauty and intricacy of this unique piece.
